Celebrating the Life of Tyre Nichols 🛹 Help Fund Memorial Skateparks.

Following the murder of Tyre Nichols, The Skatepark Project received hundreds of requests to honor Tyre's life and legacy by creating a skatepark in his name. In response, we collaborated with Grassroots Law Project and The Tyre Nichols Foundation, to honor Tyre and his communities by building two public skatepark projects dedicated to him. The first project is a rebuild of his favorite local skatepark in Sacramento, CA, which was completed in record time, and the second is a newly constructed regional skatepark in Memphis, TN.This past weekend, the Tyre Nichols Skatepark opened in Sacramento to a large gathering of community leaders, elected officials, and Tyre’s loved ones. The rebuilt skatepark is located in Regency Community Park, where Nichols would skate as a kid growing up in Sacramento. It's the place where he found community, forged lasting friendships, and nurtured his lifelong love for skateboarding.

“It is a true honor to support this project, uplifting Tyre Nichols’ legacy and passion for skateboarding which will live on here in his hometown park,” said Benjamin Anderson Bashein, Executive Director of The Skatepark Project. â€śIt’s a vibrant testament to Tyre’s love of the sport as well as the resilience and friendships built on these ramps. This park will continue to serve as a site of accessible, safe outdoor recreation, fostering community for generations to come.” The second skatepark dedicated to Tyre will be in Memphis, TN, the place he most recently called home. More details about that skatepark will be announced in the near future.
