2021 Community Impact Report
MORE THAN SKATEPARKS, WE BUILD COMMUNITY
Thanks to you and the support of our dedicated community, The Skatepark Project was able to cover so much ground in 2021! In spite of the ongoing global pandemic, 11 new skateparks have opened and we awarded 27 new grants to underserved communities across 19 states. It is now more than ever that we are seeing the direct impact that outdoor recreation and skateboarding has on the mental and physical health and wellbeing of youth, and we are excited to announce that 17 more parks broke ground on new construction for the coming year. Our Technical Assistance Program, which provides essential support to advocates, municipalities, and community-based organizations, was able to assist 516 communities as they began the process of starting their own local skatepark projects.
As the future of skateparks continues to evolve and more communities seek technical support, funding, and advocacy, we'd like to acknowledge that none of this would be possible without your generosity and commitment to supporting youth and public skateparks. We look forward to continuing this impactful work with you in 2022!
